The trees were mistaken

Description

This was an unplanned photograph, I didn't take the picture, there is no photomanipulation involved. I was 2-3 metres off the ground, and apparently sticking to this vertical tree without holding on.

I suffering from post-lecture listlessness and ongoing heartache (concerning a certain girl) yesterday at university. I couldn't decide what to do with myself after the lecture; going straight back to my flat seemed almost foreboding and uninviting, yet there was nothing to keep me down at the central university building either so I opted to sit on a bench down by the lake, listening to a band called 'Low' whose music matched my mood perfectly.

I sat for a while just watching the mallards, moorhens and coots going about their business. There was a fastidious male duck next to me for around 20 minutes. I called him Percival. I started mulling around the trees aimlessly for a period and it wasn't long until I noticed that there was a way for me to suspend myself on this giant oak tree. I somehow managed to get myself elevated onto the tree without the use of branches and I stood with my back to the trunk for around 20 minutes. I can't remember why I stayed up for so long. Perhaps it was the completely perplexed looks on the faces of those passing by, and I got a kick from amusing or confusing people. Maybe I could call it a public performance art installation?

After 20 minutes, one of my friends spotted me and he came down to investigate this frankly bizarre situation. I just remembered that my camera was in my bag and I asked him to take a picture, and this was the result.

That's really trippy. :giggle: I'd like to do that too somehow, someday.
